And here we are at Graceland!
Unbelievable! I cannot really consider myself a fan and yet I feel very
strongly towards Elvis, he is the King, he changed the music forever, he really
had THE GIFT, that only few others had.
We
got the VIP ticket that allows you to visit all the exhibits and enter the
mansion from the main door!!! Absolutely worth it! Awesome!
And below on the right Elvis's parents room, up on the right Priscilla and Lisa Marie and on the left Elvis's parents
Here is the dining room, the kitchen and the TV room
And finally the ethnic room, the jungle room and the office where Elvis's father was working for his son
Then we have the room with his records and his awards plus few garments of his, like the soldier uniform
And the suit when he got married to Priscilla
And the suits he wore in the 68 TV special
Here below is the racquetball room and few other suits that Elvis wore while performing in Las Vegas
And before to go and have a look at the other exhibits and the Lisa Marie airplane let's pay our respect
As I said with VIP ticket you also get to see the two airplanes that Elvis purchased, the small is the Hound Dog II and you can see it here below
Here below is the guest bathroom and the living room
And here there are the dining room and the bedroom with its own closet
Here below there are other suits from other exhibits and the Grammy Award and the belt Elvis was wearing during his Las Vegas performances
Finally we have also seen Elvis's cars! Including the famous Pink Cadillac, that he bought for his mother
Here below you can see the original ceiling left like that so that it is still possible to record with 50' sound, also in this picture below Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Parker (one they met in the Studio by chance and Sam Phillips recorded it and pictured it)
In
the house you can only visit the first floor, but it is really something, you
can feel his spirit, you can imagine all the people hanging around, the kitchen
always in use, the music and the TV on all the time!

Elvis
rest in peace next to his parents, on his grave there is a brief eulogy written
by his father at that time, I still have on my mind a particular sentence of it
“God saw that he needed a rest and called him home to be with him”

I
definitely enjoyed this experience and I really hope the future generations
will keep it up with it! Graceland isn’t just
the King’s house, it is an historic place!
In the afternoon we have decided to go downtown, it
only takes 15 minutes from Graceland and you
can easily find a parking space. We have been walking along the famous Beale Street
Then
we have moved to the Sun Studio! Elvis recorded here his very first song,
Johnny Cash and B.B. King recorded here, and Jerry Lee Lewis recorded Great
Balls of Fire here! Even the U2 recorded here for their album Rattle and Hum!

Final
stop of the day, the Lorraine Motel, where Martin Luther King Jr was
assassinated on April the 04th 1968. How can I hold my tears,
knowing that right here in this spot, in just few seconds it was prematurely
ended the life of what I consider the greatest leader of our time. He was true,
he really believed in his cause and in the power of his words, he completely
dedicated himself to the Civil Right Movement, he gave up himself so that we
could all have a better world!
For dinner we have chosen Marlowe’s, unfortunately
I have to say that since we left Atlanta,
between the food on the road and the food here in Memphis, we have been eating very very bad… I
really don’t want to state the obvious, or be negative, or closed mind, I have
been eating everywhere and taste all sorts of different things, the more
particular the better, but it is sadly true that here in the US almost everything
is franchised, pre-done, fast food and for me this is horrendously wrong. Everything
is standardized and the quality is really else where...
And tomorrow New Orleans baby!!!
